INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY
As I am sure you know, on Thursday 8th March the world will celebrate International Women’s Day.
It is a day when women are recognised for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. This year there is a strong call-to-action to press forward on gender parity by motivating and uniting friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive. I am writing to see if you have anything organised for International Women’s Day. If you don’t, we would like to give you a something that can potentially encourage the dialogue around women and men. If you already do have activities prepared this could be a nice addition.
In celebration of this day, I am planning to conduct a “Speakathon” around London on the 7th and 8th March. I will be doing a race around London over 2 days to deliver a presentation to 5 organisations on behalf of the charity Aurora New Dawn who support women who have been victims of abuse, violence and crime.
Not satisfied with just delivering the presentation face to face, I would also love to reach thousands of women around the world. I would therefore like to offer you the opportunity to play a pre-recorded version of the presentation to the women in your organisation (or men if they would like to join). On the day we will publish a video link that you could either send out to staff individually by e-mail or you could arrange an event where a group of women meet, watch the presentation and then take some time to discuss the tips amongst themselves. This meeting could even be the beginning of them forming their own women’s network in your organisation.
If you would like to know more about Aurora New Dawn you will find them at http://www.aurorand.org.uk/ and if you would like to support them on International Women’s Day this is the link to their “Justgiving” page https://www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/auroranewdawn/internationalwomensday2018
