How long a minute is, depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on. - Zall's Second Law

I like Stephen Coveys book “The Seven Habits of Highly Successful People”, it’s full of a lot of common sense. It all starts with habit number one “Be Proactive” and to be honest that’s where everything we do with personal effectiveness begins.

You can either be proactive or reactive when it comes to how you respond to certain things. When you are reactive, you blame other people and circumstances for obstacles or problems. Being proactive means taking responsibility for every aspect of your life, once you take responsibility initiative and taking action will shortly follow.

So no matter what the problem the first thing we do at Emerge is get people thinking about being proactive in getting the issue sorted out. Once they are committed to some action we can think about what the objective is and then begin to plan how we are going to achieve it. All the tools and techniques in the world will not help change one thing if you are not prepared to take responsibility to make them happen.

For example a Time Management course is the biggest waste of time known to man if you don’t actually use any of the thoughts you’re introduced to on the event.

We have helped people at all levels of organisations be more proactive in dealing with a whole range of issues. These have included assertiveness, stress management, making a first impression, personal impact, personal vision and goal setting and many many more.

So if you have a problem, and when you do a little self-analysis you realise you might be part of that problem then we can probably help you help yourself.
