Fear of social media

‘I don’t really get Twitter’.  The most commonly heard response to asking people what their twitter name is.  To people who use Facebook and who are used to the to and fro interaction, Twitter seems like a dark art (perfected only by Stephen Fry) in which their messages disappear into the ether, never to be seen again.

‘What’s the point of twitter?’ is then the second most common response.  Followed by ‘I’ve got a twitter account but I don’t use it’. Mention the newer and more scary apps such as Pinterest and Instagram, and you see a sea of glazed faces, sweating, in fear of you asking them a question about it.

We see social media very simply as applications allowing us to interact with people who are interested in the same things as we are.  So please follow us – we will post articles we think are interesting to people working with Emerge on personal development, written both by ourselves and other interesting people, and where possible, where there is an opportunity to learn something practical. We also promise to follow you back!
