Background and Experience
Ben is an Independent Ethics Advisor specialising in ethical decision resilience under pressure, a role he delivers as the Founder of Phicilitate Ltd. He offers ethical risk diagnostics, ethical capability workshops for leadership, and ethics advisory work. His background in philosophy and professional experience means that he is able to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical business application.
A former Chief of Staff and Ethics Manager at the FTSE100 aerospace and defence firm BAE Systems, Ben has developed his expertise in leadership, business ethics, DE&I, and facilitation by delivering a broad variety of executive roles in a complex global organisation. He regularly designed and delivered training and engagement on business ethics, DE&I and integrity to up to 2,000 colleagues a year in his capacity as an Ethics Manager for a £1bn business unit of 4,000 employees.
In addition, Ben has extensive experience on the leadership team of DE&I employee resource groups, having led BAE’s LGBTQ+ Allyship programme. He has designed and delivered Allyship Frameworks and workshops, and has extensive experience encouraging policy and cultural change.
Ben’s workshop and facilitation experience extends to a diverse range of delegates, and he is as comfortable delivering content to early careers as he is to a manufacturing, professional, or senior executive population. An adaptable and empathetic facilitator, Ben is able to ensure that any audience feels understood, listened to, and engaged with during his sessions.
Ben is a guest lecturer on the topics of Business Ethics and Ethical Decision-Making at Columbia University, Oxford University and Henley Business School.
